👺Camouflage in Life: Lessons from Sita and Rāvan

Camouflage of Dharma: Rāvan’s Disguise

Sita was trained & educated on Dharma by her father Janak. Out of respect for saffron cloth, she honored demon Rāvan, who came disguised as renunciate. Offering him seat, water to wash feet & some eatables

Camouflage of Questions: Rāvan’s Attempt to Deceive

Rāvan asked Sita-Who are you? Are you Sri, Goddess of earth or an Apsara? Why you are living alone in this terrible forest haunted by demons? What has led your steps to this place

Sita said to herself-this is Brahmana & our guest, though disguised as ascetic. He might curse me if I stay silent. She narrated the entire story of who she was & how she came to the forest. She is wife of Rām, son of King Dashrath of Kosalas, in lineage of Ikshavaku dynasty & a matchless warrior. Also with them was Laxman, terror to foes & shadow of Rām. They are away in forest & would soon be back

Camouflage of Intentions: Rāvan’s Doom Unfolds

Sita was honest & respectful to Rāvana, but he directed his thoughts upon carrying her away. She gave him noble welcome due to an honored guest but he was unwittingly inviting his doom with terrible thoughts

Lessons from Camouflage in Life

We may behave devious to simple & sincere people, clever & cunningness could be our response to other’s honesty & noble behavior but at the end we are destined to failure. It may fetch short term benefits but the end is terrible. Laws of nature are not deviant. Beware of such acts
