Sita was reminiscing about happy days with Rām when she heard his distressed voice calling her & Laxman. It pierced her heart & she exclaimed to Laxman in tears-Rām is in hands of demons & looks in vain for help. Go quickly to help your brother who’s in hands of cruel foes
She was feeling extremely guilty being one to push Rām into this expedition to satisfy her selfish desire. Laxman warned multiple times to dissuade from this mission but to no avail
But Laxman, mindful of orders of Rām, sat coolly sharpening arrows & tending to his bow. Seeing this Sita blazed in fury & cried-Why are you sitting calmly when your brother is calling for help? How can you waste a moment here when Rām is in dire need?
Laxman said-Mother,relax everything is perfectly fine. Rām is more than a match for whole company of demigods,demons, & all created beings,there is no one who could stand in fight in front of him. I can’t leave you all alone & be far away
Sita was not pacified & felt that she would burst with anxiety. Strange thoughts stirred her mind against Laxman
Our attachments blinds us to see the reality & even good counsel falls into deaf ears. Also guilt pushes one’s mind into frenzied activity & finds fault in others for one’s own shortcomings
