Jayalakshmi Krishnakumar is an Emeritus professor of Econometrics at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and a Visiting Professor at the Madras School of Economics, Chennai, India. She has many publications in top international journals in the areas of theoretical and applied econometrics as well as human development. She has also written, edited and contributed chapters in several books in the same fields.
She has been a member of the Advisory Panel for the Human Development Reports of the UNDP and the International Advisory Board of the Multidimensional Biodiversity Index project of UNEP-WCMC (World Conservation Monitoring Centre). A Fellow of the Human Development and Capability Association, she has also been an associate editor of the Journal of Human Development and Capabilities, the International Journal of Public Health, a member of the academic experts panel for World Bank’s Women, Business and The Law Index 2019, as well as an Advisor for the SDG Action Manager launched by the UN Global Compact and B-Lab in 2020.
In addition to her academic work, she is a member of the Vedantic Centre, Geneva and the Geneva Interreligious Platform. She has represented Hinduism in several inter-religious debates on Swiss Television and Radio, and in round-table discussions organised by the Interreligious Platform of Geneva.
Recently she was invited to join the Advisory Board of Dharma Alliance, an NGO to promote and preserve Dharma-based perspectives and practices.
Founder of the Vishishtadvaita Group of Switzerland, she coordinates the weekly satsangs of this group, devoted to learning Hindu philosophy.
