Maharaja of Baroda, Sir Sayajirao Gaikwad, purchased jewellery from one of the biggest jewellers in France.

The smart sales manager presented a cheque to Mr.Shinde, Private Secretary to HH, the Maharaja of Baroda.

“I do not quite understand what you say” Said Mr. Shinde.

“This is for you only Sir” said the salesman.

“Why for me? I have not purchased anything. Everything is for the Maharajah” Mr. Shinde was still perplexed.

The manager of the store tried to explain patiently “It is a small gift from us to you for bringing such an eminent personality to our establishment. Because of you, we could acquire such a big business from him. We show our gratitude to you by way of this paltry amount and that is our policy.” He quickly added “We give such commission to all the secretaries who bring their masters to us..”

“Thank You, but I will not accept such gratifications. I have to be honest to myself, too” said Shinde politely. “You may deduct the amount from the bill, if you so desire”

Lord Ram was brutally honest all through his life. He showed the courage to send back Ravana from the battlefield when Ravana lost all his arms and support.
