Game of Life 58

Sita waiting in the forest, trembling with fear, as Rāvan approaches, illustrating courage, moral clarity, and ethical decision making from the Ramayana.

Realization

A Moment from the Ramayana that Echoes Through Time

Rāvan lifted Sita into his carriage. She couldn’t contain her grief & called in piteous tones upon Rām who was still speeding back through dark forest. The demon forced his loathsome love upon unwilling Sita & drove fast to get away from Panchvati quickly.

As he coursed through sky, Janaki was almost demented with grief & filled woods with her cries & laments- Laxman, Prince of heroes & matchless in devotion to your elders, I now realize that you foresaw me in grasp of demon taking revenge for death of Khar/Dushan. I didn’t pay heed to your advice & said such cruel words to my dismay.

Raghunandan-You have never thought of anything else but welfare of those taking refuge in you, how can’t you see that this brute carries me away in defiance of all justice, human & divine?

How can Rāvan enjoy immunity? Perhaps the sins of the wicked don’t bear fruit right away. Time is an important element in the fructification of Karma.

Rāvan I see now fingers of death on your throat explaining this mad & heinous sin of yours. Rām is your fate! She cried to all creatures, trees, river etc to not lose time to acquaint Rām of her abduction, whose might & valor are enough to bring her back

The Deeper Realization: When Wisdom Comes Too Late

We realise our fallacy of not heeding good counsel after we suffer pain. Why? .

This happens only due to non-adherence to dharmic injunctions by being carried away by the uncontrolled mind, which breaks free from intelligence
