Its aim is to promote the understanding between Indians and Germans and to facilitate contacts among the people of Indian origin living in Germany.</p> <p>The Karlsruhe branch has 90 members. It organises different functions to further the understanding of Indian Culture in Germany and to allow its members and friends to meet regularly to exchange ideas and experiences. It also supports a school in a village near Dehra Dun. </p>

  • <p>Das Theater am Faden, ein Marionettentheater in Stuttgart-Heslach mit 60 Plätzen, wurde 1972 von Helga Brehme gegründet. Die Stücke mit Holzpuppen, einfachem Bühnenbild, knappem Text und für sie entwickelten Ton entstanden in eigener Werkstatt von Karl Rettenbacher und Helga Brehme oder in Coproduktion mit osteuropäischen Künstlern. Die Stücke sind nicht auf eine bestimmte Altersgruppe festgelegt, sie sind für kleine Kinder ab etwa 4 Jahre, große Kinder und Erwachsene gedacht. Regelmäßig gibt es Gastspiele für Erwachsene und Kinder von Puppenspielern aus Russland und Tschechien.</p> <p>Im Frühjahr und im Herbst sind indische Künstler mit klassischer indischer Musik und klassischem indischen Tanz zu Gast.</p>
