If one were to attempt to describe the Bhāratiya civilisation in a single word, then that word would be Rāma. Śrī Rāma is known as Maryādā Puruṣottama, a hero whose tej spans the 4 yugas and whose name itself is punyadāyi.

Śrīmad Vālmiki Rāmāyaṇa is the narration of the rasa of Śrī Rāma’s life by Ṛṣi Vālmiki. Few would be unaware of Rāmāyaṇa, however, not many would have read Ṛsī Vālmiki’s Rāmāyaṇa – that which we consider Itihāsa. Hence, questions about Rāmāyaṇa abound. A reading of Vālmiki’s Rāmāyaṇa clears all doubts and enhances our understanding of what makes Śrī Rāma the avatāra that he is, and why Rāmāyaṇa continues to be relevant today even after thousands of years. In this 7-day Śrīmad Vālmiki Rāmāyaṇa Pārāyaṇa, we will do an overview of all kāṇḍas of the grantha along with a deep dive into the most significant events that shaped this Itihāsa – some well-known and some not so well-known. We will also read some important ślokas along the way.

This course will discuss the 7 Kāṇḍas of Vālmiki Rāmāyaṇa and shed light on interesting details and clarify the common misconceptions.

Who is the Course for?

The land of Bhārata pulsates with the name of Śrī Rāma. Throughout the millennia, the retellings of Rāmāyaṇa with its various local versions have kept this land vibrant and dharmic.

This course is a humble attempt to rediscover and savour the Rāmāyana in its original form. It aims to answer long-held questions and hopefully nudge one to explore the grantha itself a little more.
