The birth of a baby can be overwhelming and trigger a lot of powerful emotions, ranging from excitement and joy to fear and anxiety. But it can also result in something you might not expect — depression. Most new moms experience postpartum "baby blues" after childbirth, which commonly include mood swings, crying spells, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Baby blues typically begin within the first two to three days after delivery, and may last for up to two weeks.

But some new moms experience a more severe, long-lasting form of depression known as postpartum depression. Postpartum depression isn't a character flaw or a weakness. M.Sc., Psychologist, Ahmedabad, IndiA

She is currently working as a Consulting Psychologist in Apang Manav Mandal in Ahmedabad. Apang Manav Mandal is an institute that gives the ‘physically challenged” a sense of belonging and was established in 1958. Her fields of expertise are: 

Clinical Psychology Child Psychology
Health Psychology Psychoeducation 

 

Ms. Bhatt is offering a session for “Urja” on PostPartum Depression (PPD) and various treatment methods available to handle it. 


During these dark Covid times, in order to keep the light shining, we are arranging for online meet-ups where some experts have volunteered to share their knowledge in their respective fields of expertise. These will address issues like stress, obesity, depression, Positive psychology for life and also an exciting story telling workshop for moms/kids. Some of the online sessions are also open to men who would like to participate.

    Urja means “energy, strength or vigor” in Sanskrit and we @Urja believe that women are already born with this energy to achieve the impossible. But sometimes integrating into a new country or new job or adjusting to the new changes in life might sometimes diminish our potential and we feel lost. Urja is a non-profit volunteer meet-up group that will provide a platform for women to express freely without being judged and to reignite the Urja within them.
