The onset of Margazhi brings with it blissful temperatures, quiet mornings, and a contemplative spirit - about the year that has been, and that is to come. In the south of India, famous saints - Andal, Thyaagaraja, Dikshitar, Alwars have left us with a wealth of devotional compositions in praise of the Gods and to reap immense personal and societal benefits. Compositions have been particularly written in praise of Lord Krishna and Vishnu, but the Chennai season artists explore their musical prowess and present a buffet of rich lyrics and enthralling musical arrangements.

In the same spirit, we proudly present a pan European Margazhi Utsavam for the first time. This virtual event is a combined effort of like-minded Indians (expats, permanent residents and EU nationals with OCI status), eager to uphold the tradition, and rediscover the joy of Margazhi season. We invite artists from Netherlands, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Switzerland and other European nations to present Kritis as micro concerts, which will be telecast on YouTube and social media from the 1st of Jan to the 10th of Jan 2022. Participants are requested to send a video of 5 – 15 min duration, and can present their songs as individuals or as a group, with/without accompaniments.
