Story Telling / Katha Keerthana Workshop

Harikathe/Katha Keerthana is a traditional art form of storytelling, popular in South India. It is an amalgamation of music, drama, story-telling and devotion. Sharvari Somayaji is a Harikathe exponent with over 10 years of experience and has performed at over 200 stages in India and abroad. She's currently pursuing her Masters at Goethe University Frankfurt and University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Her gurus are her mother Veena Somayaji and Vid. Shilpa Shashidhar.

The mother and daughter duo are bringing together a creative workshop on Harikathe this April. The kids will get to understand the technicalities of the art form along with learning how to present a full fledged Harikathe in English. By the end of the workshop they will be able to perform a 20-25 minute Katha Keerthana on Seeta Kalyana. 

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Concept — Seeta Kalyana

Dates — 15, 16, 22 and 23rd April 2023 

Time — 5 to 6 PM CET

Sessions — 4 sessions, 1 hour each

Age — 7 - 20 years old

Pre requisite — No previous experience or knowledge of Indian Scriptures is necessary; however, prior training in Carnatic music or Bhajans is preferred

Fees — 40€

Platform — Zoom; the link to join will be shared with the registered participants a day before the workshop begins.
